yay sarah :)

Describe: The piece is composed of 16 different triangles juxtaposed which vary in size and the direction of their angles. She used the high contrast scale, of two light shades and two dark shades. The edges are extremely stark and clear, as they weave in an out in a more jagged-like manner to create this sharp geometric composition. Throughout the piece there is a nice balance between the dark shades versus the light; especially because the dark shades are very smooth, so this works well, versus having scratchy tones. I think the traingles all fit together nicely, and the composition is effectively balanced throughout the page.

Interpret: While she was drawing, I think she could have been feeling very in control. Because though one would assume the sharp edges to be a symbol of anger, the triangles really don't appear to be as harsh. As well as the triangles seem to be intentionally placed where they are, not whimsically thrown together in an effort to create a composition. And the contrasting tones, could signify conflicting feeling, but then again, the dark tones appear to be intentionally placed. So I think she knew what she was doing the whole time.

Evaluate: Overall, I do like the composition. I think the triangles flow together very nicely and they are placed in an intricate yet not harsh manner. I feel complete when I view the piece because all her triangles are shaded evenly, so it gives me a very whole feeling. And the contrasting colors remind me almost of a yin-yang, because I feel that the piece is very balanced, both with the shading as well as the weighting of the piece. So it makes me feel balanced, like when things in life are just simply going well, nothing bad has happened, but nothing monumental either; you're simply just content. So I think this piece is very successful, good job sarah!
